An all star line up of Wigan Athletic former players are set to take on Ashton Athletic in memory of a much respected Latics Supporter. The eponymously named Peter Catterall Memorial Match will be held on the 8th October 2009 at Brocstedes with a 7:45 kick off.
The game will be the third such meeting of the Wigan Athletic Past Players team and local outfit Ashton Athletic, and the second time the fixture has been held in honour of Latics fan Peter Catterall.
Previous years have seen a good turn out of Latics fans to the Ashton-in-Makerfield ground to see former favourites such as Stuart Barlow, Neil Rimmer, Noel Ward and Tommy Gore turn out in the blue and white of Wigan Athletic once again. This years line up is yet to be confirmed, but whatever the squad, memories of past glories at Springfield Park are sure to be evoked in the strangely familliar surroundings of Brocstedes Park: a firm reminder of Latics own roots in the non-league.
Admision prices on the night also echo seasons gone by with adults at £3.50 and children /oap at £1.50.
