Momentum is gathering for the Wigan Athletics fan base campaign to rename the East Stand to The Springfield Park Stand in honour of our club AND our towns heritage.
It’s a bit like the Swans on the canal near the bridge at the back of The DW, it seems like they are just going along serenely but in actual fact the legs are pounding away underneath the surface.
Without mentioning names (in case they get big headed!) a lot of good folk are busy researching various aspects of our old home both on the internet and in the libraries of the borough.
Many troubled hours have been toiled on this worthwhile enterprise and without tempting fate the response from club officials about our collective quest has been positive.
A lot more still needs to be done & we won’t be counting our chickens just yet nor will we become complacent, behind the scenes we are trying to put a coordinated professional presentation for the corridors of power at the club.
However you can help us immensely if you have ANY reminisces of life before the JJB please feel free to post them here at the YOTAC forums or at the excellent Springfield Park site forum.
